i dont really know where to put this thread since i dont know the cause of the problem, but since my os is vista, i decided to put it here.
my laptop (toshiba satellite l310) suddenly hang and then i shut it off by pressing the power button. i restarted but it wont get past the "Windows is loading screen". i tried waiting for a long time but it still wont work. then, it went into startup repair but the repair said that it cannot find any problems. then, it still wont open. the startup repair suggested system restore but it cannot go through with it for some reason. i opened the repair and diagnostic log and this is what it says: Session Details System Disk = \Device\Harddisk0 Windows Directory = C:\Windows AutoChk Run = 0 Number of root causes = 1 *i dragged down to the cause of the problem since the other things written just says the test is complete* Root Cause Found: Startup Repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem. *Further Down is this* Root Cause Found: Unspecified changed to system configuration might have caused the problem Repair Action: System Restore Result: Error Code = 0x490 Time Taken = 0ms *Another one is this* Root Cause Found: System Volume one disk is corrupt Repair Action: File System repair (chkdsk) Result: Completed Successfully Error code = 0x0 Time Taken = 183629ms *the repair log is this* Problem Event Name: StartupRepairV2 Problem Signature 01: AutoFailOver Problem Signature 02: 6.0.6001.18000.6.0.6001.18000 Problem Signature 03: 6 Problem Signature 04: 393222 Problem Signature 05: NoRootCause Problem Signature 06: NoRootCause Problem Signature 07: 0 Problem Signature 08: 1 Problem Signature 09: System Restore Problem Signature 10: 0 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.5 LocaleID: 1033 *i tried running system restoreagain from the cd but it returns this:* System restore failed due to an unspecified error the system cannot find the file specified (0x80070002) *i also got a blue screen saying "Fatal System error something 0xc000003a"* iwasnt able to write it all down since it suddenly went off. please help me. and sorry for the long thread. |

Hi
Do you have your original Windows Vista CD still? Try the info HERE and more so to start with if you can hit F8 and then choose "last known good" But an inplace repair maybe in order.

i dont think i have the vista cd. i only have the recovery disk. is that the same?
regarding the link, it says that the article is different than my version of windows. would it work in vista? the last known good configuration and everything in the F8 menu does not work.i tried them for the whole day. system restore also says that the files are missing. it seems deleted. thanks for the reply! |
