Default Connecting to a Windows 2003 R2 64bit server

Our client is using a Mac system running a Mac OS X (We believe 10.6)

When connecting to their windows server (2008 R2 64bit) from the GUI (Finder) using the domain\username and the 'server.name' or direct IP address, it is displaying this error message, 'There was an error connecting to server 'server.name' Check the server name or IP address and then try again.'

When connecting through the command line using the smbclient command and the direct IP address rather than using 'server.name' it can connect fine, but the data can not be accessed by the finder. This means the user will then have to use the command line to list the directories and files. Our client would rather use the the finder as it is user friendly compared to the command line.

Anyone that can shed some light on the matter will be much appreciated.

Please let us know if you require any more informaiton.

Thanks

Chris
