Wireless firmware on laptop missing.

A few days ago my hard drive somehow screwed up so i took the old 80Gb hard drive out of my Ps3 and placed it into the laptop. It seems to work as is. As there was no OS on the hard drive i installed a version of linux, ubuntu. now as start the Laptop up and proceed to the internet button towards the top it shows this: http://i.imgur.com/DfF4Z.png

if someone could lead me to a generic firmware that would work it would be greatly appreciated.

The laptop is a Presario C714NR.

You most likely have the Broadcom wireless adapter, which does not have open source drivers. Because of this, they are not included in a default Ubuntu installation. If possible, connect your laptop through an ethernet cord to your router as it is easier with internet access. You should get a notification that you have restricted drivers available (along with a circuit board icon in the system tray). If you don't, follow these instructions.

You hit on the reason I never got into the "buntu's". A link on the ubuntu .com link listed above takes you to the ndiswrapper page. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...er/Ndiswrapper. Have used ndiswrapper to get on wireless with Puppy and PCLOS. Have also used the .inf file from the drivers folder of the windows driver to connect with PCLOS.... Not using Linux much as of late
