Default What's an mht file ?

Sometimes I'd like to save the information on web page, eg, info about a product.

I notice that if select page > Save As from the IE toolbar (if that's what it's called) and I save, the file type is *.mht When I open it, it appears in IE. My real question is is the page saved as I see it, or is it just a pointer or web address that is just accessing the internet for that page, and will disappear with some error if the web page is removed ?

(of course I could print the file to disk using a pdf printer or MS XPS to effective make a hardcopy)

Hi,

MHTML, short for MIME HTML, is a web page archive format used to combine resources that are typically represented by external links (such as images, Flash animations, Java applets, audio files) together with HTML code into a single file.

See here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHTML

It should be a complete file that contains all the information.

My only experience with .mht files is from (Problem Steps Recorder) psr.exe in Win7. It saves screenshots of your actions during recording and saves the file as .mht file. From what I see, it is self-contained and opens in any browser. https://www.acesiowa.com/blog-articl...ce-windows-gui

If see you don't use Firefox, but I like this addon for saving jpg/png files of whole webpages. I use the option of Save Image of Entire Page.
It might be an option to install FF and keep IE as your default browser. Then just open a page you want to save in FF and use the addon. (Probably not worth the trouble for a few pages if you are happy with MHT, but an option if you want many files in a more familiar format.)
