Default First Job

I finally landed my first job!
I am a cashier at a pool store. While it is not the best job, it's certainly not the worst.

Congrats Z.

My oldest is 15 (16 in August) and we've told her she has to have a job this summer. We are having a hard time finding anyone who hires at 15. If she can't find a paying job, she's going to have to do volunteer and work off some of her school service hours.

Congrats, Zack! My 17 year old recently landed her first job; she is a cashier at Tim Hortons ( a coffee shop in Canada). Enjoy!

Congrats Zack, and welcomre to the rest of your life, working for a living that is.
My first real job was at McDonalds for $3.25hr, and the best part was working with all the girls.

Good deal on getting your first job, Zack . Always nice to actually be receiving an income. Forget the girls - they come and go all the time. Money is what makes the world go around. Get plenty of money and you'll get the women, and everything else you want .

You might NOT get everything you want, but you can shop for it in pricier places.

Congrats my friend.
That beats my "job"
I help my grandparents take care of their chickens and dogs everyday all year long (whether it's 100 degrees out or 16 degrees(16 degrees is really cold out).
I've done that since I was maybe 7, cages taller than I was back then, and I get $25 a week.

Congrats on the Job!!

Cashier is not bad at all. My first 'real' job was removing weeds from a soy bean field. Yep, would rather be a cashier.

My first real job was at a full service gas station. ('67-'68)
After school and weekends.
Gas then was 14.9 cents @gal. for 93 octane hi-test.
Cleaning windows, checking oil, pumping gas, service vehicles. Everything and then some.

A lot of retail places around here are willing hire 15 yr olds as long they have their working papers.

Very interesting. A friend of mine lives on a small 'farm'. Hanging out there realy opened my eyes to how much work it really is to get a dozen eggs.

Predators, basic care and feeding... It is a lot more work than I thought. I mean, I just go to the store and buy them.

OT, but man, those nice fresh eggs....

You just can't beat a 'laid that day' fresh omelet....

Goldenskull:

To show how times have changed, my father was a 28 year veteran truck driver when he passed away in 1968. (long haul over the road.)
At that time he was making $4.25 an hour.

When my grandad got his first job it was 1p per week, all given to a monk for cleaning his blisters and whip wounds.

Nice one Zack, may I ask is it pool game shop or swimming pool supply shop?

Well Zack its the first rung in the ladder of sucess, and we all have to start somewhere, TBH no matter what the job I feel that work experiece and your age is crucial and something to have on your resume, it will stand in good stead for later interviews for jobs and why you ask....

well good question Zack, why is that it will prove to employers that you are willing to work and have experience of a workplace enviroment, and that with odd basic English and Math is crucial.
