Linksys Befw11s4 router flucuation of speed

no the old threads do not answer my question.

The signal is great have no issue with that, but my wep secure router, the isp, or the computer is changing the speed of the wifi. It goes from top speed, to half, to half of that. I reset the wireless network connection and it use to reset back to top speed but now it may or may not reset.

I know this is an old router but right now I can not afford to upgrade

Hi Sheilabg and welcome to MGs.

One thing you might try is to see if the router's firmware can be upgraded.
Go HERE, under the Downloads tab, make sure you have the correct hardware version and check the firmware version on your router and see if there is an update available.
Also, you might check the drivers on your wireless adapters to see if they are up to date.
