Dungeon Keeper 2 1.7 patch problem

I own the disc version of DKII and I tried to update it to 1.7 so it works right and everytime I try the game tells me "Old file not found." and closes the patch install. Help please.

Looks like you need to patch to 1.6.1 BEFORE you can patch to 1.7. What version are you at now, I suspect earlier than 1.6.1.

This might seem odd as those days are long gone but this was released in 1999 so it was not all that uncommon to patch up one version at a time. A lot of site who used to have the multiple patches no longer do.

I trust that site, he has been around for ages. Worst case, if the game plays don't patch it, just play it.

Upping to 1.6 didn't work either... the 1.8 patch did though, as far as I can see.

Edit: Now the only problem is that DKII keeps freezing my computer whenever I try to interact with it.

Edit 2: After restarting Windows explorer, twice, I managed to get DKII to open... kinda. It goes into 256 colors for about thirty seconds then drops back out and ends the process DKII.exe
