Hey Geeks; Man this is getting stupid. Was here about two weeks ago having problems with Prolific 2303 driver. tgell did great job and found me the right driver. Now this week in device manager I have a yellow exclaimation sign saying code 10 and the device I am trying to work wont function. I have updated and uninstall/reinstall. I even downloaded the driver that tgell found again and than installed it. any ideas why driver works one week and not the next. I guess I go looking for different driver huh?I run wins xp on toshiba satellite pro. Thanks in advance for help_____ Techs here are sharp I always get great support here. Luv u guys. Also I have not updated wins since last fix or done anything that should of affected that driver

Hi
Without having to look over past threads of yours what is the Windows version and Service Pack used and did you downgrade or upgrade to a different version of Windows that came with your PC? What is your PC model and make? If you re-install the driver that "tgell" listed for you again does this issue go away?

Not sure what is happening. Disconnect the device from the usb port. Download USBDeview and run in an admin account. Delete all vendor specific devices. Reboot and then connect your device.

Doing okay.
When you run USBDeview you should see vendor specific devices. You can safely remove these. Sometimes one driver conflicts with another. These will be reinstalled the next time you connect a USB device. Delete only the Vendor Specific Devices. Have you tried inserting your USB to serial device in a different USB port? Try that first.![]() |

Yeah I would try what tgell mentions in using the USB device in another port, it should not matter what port but in some instances USB can foul up and cause driver issues.
