Default Software download ignores Password

First off thank you for allowing me to enter Major Geeks and to the head of Major Geeks Thank you.
The Title says it all except that when my hard drive went belly up
and with a lot of effort to bring it back I had decided that i would like to down load Panther inside along with tiger. I had not much trouble downloading Tiger
Oh by the way I have no intel with this computer its a oldie but a goodie. (Imac g5)
But when I download both disks for Panther all went well it downloaded both disks
But the computer refuses to accept my Password for Panther and its the same for tiger and it kicks my attempt in the rear.
I am still a novice when it comes to computers for this is my very first computer ever I bought this in 2005
Any Help in the right direction is much appreciated I have already traveled in the wrong direction and I am Holding a sledge Hammer.

You cant private message until you have a certain number of posts, and this how you can contact me. Im really not understanding what happened? Your hard drive crashed and your trying to reinstall your copies of tiger and panther that you have cds for? Or your trying to download copies of tiger/panther from the internet to install?

Number one I do not down load from the internet I have the disks from day one in 2005
Secondly I am frustrated in doing this answering like this
waiting till someone answers me and then I am not able to see the reply.

yes i know thats the way its done in this site but I cannot understand why i cannot find a table of contents or a index to move around in major geeks better

Thank you for trying to help me Just forget I was here this is not a place for a novice as my self I posted my feelings earlier and I am sticking to them
In another few hours I am thinking of unsubscribing and going my own lost way. as said they do not have a proper method to move around no contents page or index etc.
I cannot say its been interesting not one bit.
Thanks again for trying to help. Chas333 Not angry just Frustrated

In the upper left hand corner when your browsing a sub forum, should say new thread. If you have a question on a different topic make a new post, if its part of this one it should stay here. Im trying to figure out exactly what happened to best help you, so if it seems like im asking something stupid/obvious to you, remember its hard to do things remotely Your hard drive died? and was then replaced. Do this for me, logon to which ever version of osx it will let you, then goto system preferences, and then startup disc. Do you see two folders in this with the two different versions ie panther and tiger? Can you tell me specificaly why you need both versions? Maybe you would be better served with just using tiger as its more current?

Reply to Coleman:
In the weeks past My computer went blank on the desk top when I opened it
It showed a Grey screen with a small folder representing the finder folder on that was a small Question mark.
I had tried everything to bring back the computer in every way possible I used disk utility and reset whats called the Pram. I tested the computer with tech tool and any other means I had all were disks in my possession.
I repowered the computer several times.
Nothing worked the reason I want to have Panther in here also with Tiger which in downloaded already (Tiger) I want to have Panther so I might use it with sites that ask for it instead of The present upgrades. I started with Panther when I had bought this computer I had not much trouble with it and as for this Tiger its as far as I can go I have no intel in the computer it was never installed for I bought this long before it came along. The upgrade to Tiger 10.4.11 proved over a time to be limited at best Safari downloads are bad, tired and quit all the time so If I can go back to Panther with the older downloads I will use it and enjoy it more. So when I went to the Apple store to find out how to place Panther back in along side Tiger The so called Genius people said to me they didnt know how to do it for all they know is the newer versions that are used today. In start up section I have mac osx 10.4.11 on Hd the other is network start up. I once had Panther in the computer but was lost when computer had to take a break and die. I called tech's at apple and the had me erase my present tiger to open the computer again. thats was a bad idea for they later sent me a email to open the computer with out erasing. end of story sorry for taking so long. I wasted paying them money and time for that mess they did. Chas333

So if you put in the panther cds, and it should be if you hold the c key down on boot, it should give you the option to boot and install panther, which if panther does what you need, why bother installing tiger? Currently you only have tiger installed as shown by your system preferences - startup disk section.

Yes I know what your saying but I would require both
I have done as you said about what to do when disks are placed inside the only problem I have is that the Password gets kicked out each and every time.
My Password is the same for this computer alone not combined with any other it had worked for Panther in the day when first use and its the same for Tiger what puzzles me is at why it get kicked out I must be doing some thing more or less to have this happen. Chas333

I dont understand, you dont have two versions of osx installed right now, or you would see both in your system preferences - start up disc. Right now you just have tiger, and then the default network boot option. To install both os's you would need to install panther first, then do an install of tiger making sure its not upgrading the panther one.

Thats right I do not have both in there only as what I told you earlier in the prior reply that I told you. I am not able to place Panther in at all. My Computer knocks out my Password when I try to open Panther. This is why that Tiger is the only one installed. And is seen in the Start up section along with Network Start up with a Big Question mark on the front of network start up.

I understand that you say I have to install Panther first and then Tiger ok One thing More than 3 years ago

I had a apple tech on the phone help me install Panther even thou I already had Tiger installed in computer.

I didn't have any problem then.
But Panther got pushed out by what I don't know might have been from the recent loss of the Hard drive.
