Falcon, stop using Google and passing on bad information. Your killing me.

If you gave me the correct model, your not installing a SSD drive in it. The computer won't have connections for it as you most likely have an old style IDE connector.

If the Tecra is of a similar spec. to this = P3 800Mhz with a maximum of 512Mb of memory, it really isn't cost-effective to upgrade to an SSD and any speed improvements are likely to be choked by the low spec. of everything else.

The cheapest usable-size compatible PATA 44-pin SSD a quick search found was this 16GB one (if they really have it in stock), at $44 it's more than the laptop is worth. You might find a new HDD of 30GB for less than $30.

Thank you very much.
The issue for me is to keep an old friend (PC) working and the price seems irrelevant.
For an old car sometimes one part costs a fortune and still the collector buys it.
In my case with 12 Gb it was already working well with Win XP so 16 Gb SSD could be a strong enhancement.
Thank you one more.

Something like this coupled with a Compact Flash card would cost a little less, but there will be a little bit more work involved installing it.

Thank you very much.
This looks to be the best balanced option.
You've been a great help.
