Trying to update bog standard Desire to Gingerbread 2.3

Hi, pulling my hair out. All the sites that show you how to manually do this point me to the HTC Developers website https://www.htcdev.com/ for the software but when I get there, I cannot find the software anywhere. Can anybody advise me where to find it and what to click on please.
