DVD ROM can't read disc

My DVD ROM can't read discs..
in device manager is says "It is working properly"
i upgraded the driver and it says "installed correctly"
but the same when i inserted a dvd disk i won't read..

Hi I also am having problems with my dvd/rom. It can't read or write to but everything says it is working properly.

Can you tell me a little more on that fix it program. It's not one of those scan but to fix you got to buy the program is it?

Also can you give more detail into what the problem maybe or is it just one of those things where it can be several problems.

I thought maybe I burned it up but haven't used it that much and if that was the case wouldn't it be showing a error in device manager.
