Keygen programs, emulators, and general stuff

After noticing a few threads about the above items, I thought I'd clear up a few things regarding them, from my own point of view. Tim and/or Jim may correct me, but I'm posting from my own standpoint here.

First of all, asking for Keygen programs, CD cracks or the like will not be tolerated and threads involving these programs will be closed/edited/deleted as soon as they are spotted, and accounts may be suspended or deleted for continued breaking of this rule. While there are perfectly legal uses for these programs, the majority of uses are to crack games you don't own. Therefore, please don't discuss these things here. You all use the internet, so if you truly need these programs for legal purposes, I'm sure you can search for them another way.

Emulators are a slightly more tricky situation. Emulators themselves are not illegal, as found out in the Sony vs Bleem case. However, the roms themselves generally are, unless a) you own the game in question anyway, or b), the rom has been made public domain. It's a fine line between legal and illegal as well here, so discussing the emulators themselves is fine with me, but discussions about roms will be deleted.

Don't forget guys, Tim and Jim own these boards here, and what goes on here is their responsibility. If a discussion about warez is found out by the authorities, it's not you that will get into trouble, but the owners of these boards. Please have a bit of consideration for them.

I'm sticking this at the top of the forum for now, and inviting comments as well. Please correct me if any law I've stated is wrong, as I'm in the UK and my knowledge of US law is limited

We are with you. This website has tons of software almost all which can be registered and for us to support any sort of keygens, etc., would be stupid. I dont even have to get into my opinion on it, that should say it all.

US law is the same, and even if it was not, we still do not believe this website should be a medium to allow such theft. It makes us a party to it.

Feel free to send names of anyone doing it Davey, I didnt see it. The thread will be archived , their ip banned and their ISP notified.

Emulators SHOULD be ok. Technically, most emulators are legal, the issue is owning the ROMS. Its sort of like banning Winamp and all MP3 players because some MP3s are pirated.
