I get the following message when I attempt to install either Adobe Acrobat Reader, "Error 1406. Could not write value to key \Software\Classes\TypeLib\{5F226421-415D-408D-9A09-0DCD94E25B48}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

I'm even logged in as the local administrator and I still don't have the rights to change the registry?

I've run RegSeeker and cleaned up the registry, virus scan comes up w/nothing. Cleared out all TEMP files. I don't have a problem installing version 6.

Anyone have any idea on this?

Below is a HiJackThis log file, any help would be greatly appreciated...

Sadly, having HJT fix that registry entry did not work. I still get the same error.

    Try this:

Go here and download "Dial-a-Fix": http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.html

    Unzip and run the .exe.

At the bottom click on the "hammer", this will open "Dial-a-Fix" tools.

In the top pane, scroll to "Repair Permissions" and select.

    Click "Go"

Let Dial-a-Fix do it's thing which can take a while.

When finished, see if this fixes your problem.

Unfortunately that did not work either.

Do you have SpySweeper installed? If so, disable it and try the installation again.

Yes, I did try that (both of the different versions) and I still get the error.

Turn off all/any "security software" you have installed.
