    Welcome to Major Geeks!

In short it may help block certain trojans that use those ports to enter your PC; however it will not stop people from getting trojans since most of them don't get onto PCs via open ports. In most case people download and install the trojans themselves. Maybe unknowingly, but the things they download, the sites the surf on, the things they click on with out reading are the bigger problems.

In addition most problem ports are already closed by having a software firewall installed and having a router with a hardware firewall adds an additional layer of front end protection.
