I can't get usb drivers to reinstall within the device manager without getting this error:

"cannot install hardware. there was a problem installing this hardware:
universal host controller via rev 5 or later
The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request"

So what i did wrong? Is there anything i could do with winxp pro because should i have to backup my other applications & user settings I wont have a way to plug my usb dvdwriter since the usb drivers aren't initialized when windows starts. Could i fix the problem by working through the registry?
