Hello guys and first of all thanks for having a place where we can post malware issues like this.

In the last 2 weeks I have noticed that my internet speed is quite slow. Ive had the maintenence guy come by the other day and test the speed and it seems like there is a problem with my laptop since there are no connection issues. I am thinking there is some kind of malware since it has always worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. I tried to do a system restore but it didnt change anything.

Usually my speed is 15mb/s but it has dropped to 6-8mb/s every time I test the speed. And sometimes the speed test shows 20-25 mb/s which is impossible since the max I can have is 15mb/s

The maintenence guy connected his laptop to my router and got the full speed of 15 mb/s while I am only getting the half of it.

I use my laptop mostly for work but I also watch movies on it and browse the Internet etc
I have completed all the steps as you suggested but the problem is still there.

I hope you can help me figure out what happened.
PS: Let me know if I should continue with the steps 5 and so on and when can I enable UAC again?

    Thanks,
    Denis

Re run Hitman and have it delete this entry under the heading "Malware":

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Delete these:
    C:\ProgramData\AskPartnerNetwork
    C:\Program Files (x86)\AskPartnerNetwork

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Explain how things are running.

First of all thanks for taking the time to help me.

When I tried to delete C:\Program Files (x86)\AskPartnerNetwork
I got a message that it is not possible to delete the folder because the ask update service exe is running. I checked in task manager and found it under running services. I stopped the service APNMCP and after that I could delete the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\AskPartnerNetwork
The ask update service is still present in services under task manager though.

Hard to say how it is right now. When i make speed tests I am getting speeds of 17-20 mb/s which I cant have. Like I said before my max is 15/1 mb/s.

    Please Advice

Click start > type services.msc and press ENTER.
Do you see the service listed? If so can you stop it? Let me know.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

You should post in the software forum. I have no idea what is causing it, but it is not due to malware.
