    Hi

Hoping someone can help me out. Last week, i noticed my internet connection seemed not to be working, anyway after doing some checks, i discovered that one of my laptops was constantly sending out data requests 9 checked via wireshark ) and this was congesting my connection. When i disconnect this comp from the network (wireless) the connection works fine for other computers.

I have read the sticky and run mlawarebytes and superanti spyware programs, they both detected infectoins and cleaned these out but problem is still active. I have not run combo fix as yet.

I've attached some data, one is a screenshot of the wireshark screenshot, it shows what the computer is sending, lots of requests to various websites.

I've also attached a log file of the processes that are running and some sys information, an expert eye hopefully may see something:)

I've also tried rebooting in safe mode with networking and problem is still there.

I tired kiiling processes to see if any of them might be causing it but no luck, in safe mode, there were only 14 processes running and all were known processes from what i could see but the problem was still there.

I'm really stuck on this one, some people have told me i'll need to format and re-install but that's not really an option for me at the moment so hopefully i can get some help here.

Any help / advice much appreciated.

    tks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

First off, if you haven't already, I suggest you install a firewall.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hi,

Ran through some of the steps this evening so it seems combo fix has fixed the issue, computer seems to be working ok after combo run, but i'll note down a few points.

    - SAS run went fine, one issue found, i ran this last week and it did find more, but only 1 this eve - log attached

    - Malware run went fine - nothing found - log attached

    - Combo fix
    1) tried to install windows recovery console via net but couldn't - i cant connect to net from this comp due to the issue it has, scan ran anyway

    2) computer reboot after combo and now i can connect to net, not seeing packets across the wireless connection incrementing and not seeing same behavious in wireshark at the moment either:) log attached

    - Rootrepeal - tried to run this but got error "cant read boot disk" or something to that effect, suggested changing disk level in options so moved it down 1 setting and got blue screen.

    - MGTools - didn't try this

My computer seems to be running ok now, i can connect to the net, doesn't seem to be upload data itself :)

Anyway i have attached the logs, would be interesting to know the issue was, and if it looks ok now?

You still need to download and run the MGTools.exe. Then attach the C:\MGLogs.zip.

Also, please put ComboFix directly on your desktop, not here:
Running from: d:\iloughli\Desktop\ComboFix.exe --> unless this is your root drive.
