There are many threads that talk about this, you'll have mixed reviews.

Some like AVG, others like Avast. I like avast.

Some good free anti-virus programs are Avast! Home Edition, AVG, and AntiVir Personal Edition.

Some good paid anti-virus programs are Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal, and NOD32.

Most people here use Avast or AVG as there anti-virus since its free and provides decent protection.

I thought the page had a few valid points and offered it as food for thought. YOU and are the one that seemed to trash what I tried to give to help. I think that site just probably stepped on the toes of your chosen virus protection.

sure if you're rich you can buy some.
my personal opinion avg, avast will do fine, either way.
avast automatically updates for you...but i find when you want to do a scan, their interface is a lil confusing...but i manage.
avg i like, it's simple and fast as well, nice interface, but you have to update it yourself.

use either or...protect your self from spyware, see the spyware forum stickies for that and you're set...don't get yourself too paranoid about which is the absolute best one, they're all good, they all want the market, so they have to be good and competitive.

Why do people automatically assume that because something is free, somehow it isn't as good as a comparable product that you have to pay for? The free version of AVAST! and AVG are very good programs and provide more than adequate protection.

These free products use the same scan engine as the paid version. They just don't come with all the bells and whistles.

Many of the software reviews and studies are biased; as many are commissioned by a software vendor.

When people disagree with you don't take it personal.

Star love ya, baby. I know you're a man. [IMG]

Also remember that if you buy a product, you are also purchasing the vendor's support for it (if you run into any problems/incidents).

Avast! has free support within their forums, if you installed their Avast! Home Edition.
