Alec Baldwin went to great lengths to apologise not only to his child but also to anyone who had been offended by his word/actions. While he doesn't condone what he said and did, he admitted that this ongoing court matter had stretched him over the limit at the time.

You need to hear both sides of the story and the delays incurred with this particular court matter. He is now taking time out and writing a book which focuses on court rulings on divorce, affects on the children separated from the father as well as the loss felt by the father who deeply cares for their child/children who in some cases are held away from them.

    Hi Grumbles

That's an old video of Alec's recorded voice. And yes, I am a "brief".

Guess I gave the game away;) LOL

And yes, you are entitled to your own opinion, everyone is and I respect that. I didn't mean to sound curt, I was just trying to play fair because there are many divorcees (male and female) who encounter the same problems but not so publicly.

Yep, as said, there are always at least two sides, sometimes many, to every matter. At the end of the day, it is a private family and legal matter, and not really one for public judgment. I'm sure we've all said things we wish we hadn't with the aid of 20-20 hindsight at some time in our lives. Bet we wouldn’t want it made a public circus, for everyone to mock or judge. Mind you, no one would care less if it was just us. Such is the price of fame, I guess.

Not saying what he said was particularly right, or appropriate. But just looking at it from the p.o.v. of whether it's really a matter for the public in the first place.

I haven't really kept up on all the goings on with them but seems to take a strong constitution to endure years of fighting, getting nowhere. I remember him soaping the windows of a paparazzi taking pictures of them bringing the baby home from the hospital, so he's a little impulsive. And what child hasn't driven a parent to the brink, they're mouths become out of control at certain ages. I walked away many times to my room to keep from loosing it. any parent who degrades the other is doing the child harm. Kids aren't stupid they know your faults but choose to love you anyway. It's like being told there is no Santa when you actually know but aren't ready admit it. Can you imagine what her relationships will be like when she is grown?

How old is that kid 12 going on 30.

i am divorced but not so publicly as Alex but if my daughter spoke like that i would also go crazy, it's obvious that is not the fist time they have had a confrontation but how do these conversations get on air (do film stars record everything for posterity).

Hard to imagine a 12 year old girl coming up with those things without having someone putting some of the words in her mouth. Especially since putting this on the net probably wasn't his idea, but rather from her side.

Sad, everyone in a situation like that loses. Even sadder that the world is watching and gloating. As a child, my home situation wasn't very happy, and things as terrible as this were often said. This appears to be a sad family situation, but not worse than any other family in the same situation, with the exception that this is being on display for the world to judge.

Absolutely right. By way of personal allegory, I have a daughter who will turn 12 in a few days time that I haven't even seen for the last 14 months. No sane reason, other than probably a ploy to drive a wedge between us, which I doubt will work anyway. Of course, it's rarely in the best interests of the child. Point being, that it's a common occurrence to use children as porns in some kind of mind games. Wrong on so many levels, i.m.o.

I figured that bit out for myself long ago, LoL.

As a non custodial father whose ex has a tendency to pull stupid crap, I have to admit, I was a little outraged at Alec's message.

However, also knowing the stresses that a divorce and custody battle can put on a person, I can understand why he was that frustrated/upset. Unfortunately, he took it out on the wrong person, but then again, I have to admit that I have done that before. I felt like a complete turd and am fortunate to have a son who understands more than his 11 years would lead you to believe, but I still flt bad about it. A lot of personal face time and talking is what it took to get past those times.

I love my son second to none and value what little time I am allowed to spend with him (have been talking to my lawyer about how to remedy that and will be taking steps soon... I never knew I had options back then.... idiot that I got assigned never told me).

I do not condone or excuse what Alec said, but by the same token, I am sure that he was not the one who released it either..... wonder who's to blame for that one???

    Anyways, enough from me.

Amen to that. And unfortunately it is said to those we care about deeply.:(

It's pretty tough on non-custodial parents and the law is taking it's sweet time to make appropriate amendments (dependent on Country/State).

(As for your "idiot" lawyer, you're probably aware that valid complaints can be lodged against a lawyer who has failed to perform their duties. Upon the appropriate authority's investigations, they may or can take action against that lawyer dependent on the type of failure.)

Re Alec's matter, his wife's lawyers have dragged things on for quite some time while imposing restrictions that has frustrated Alec's case in more ways than one. Still not an excuse, but per these posts' comments, it was a human reaction made public.

who knows maybe we would have done the same thing we don't know his daughter or his situation. she might be a little pig-lol

if i were a celebrity I would be so paranoid about leaving messages on answering machines or video tape or anything that could be released to the media- they don't live normal lives

I think all were hearing is a frustrated parent-driven to the point of trying to express emotions verbally, witch is not a easy task.

just remember were all human and imperfect, its not our place to judge.

He worries, as most parents do. My opinion of him went up after this incident. Granted what he said was wrong, but I only know what I have heard, not about their family problems first hand. The only real shame here is on the person who released his message to the media.

If any of my kids spoke to me like that I would be in jail for child abuse.

Unfortunately, that was 10 years ago, and I talked to my lawyer about it, he mentioned that but also said that it would be almost impossible to prove anything after this much time.

That, however, is why we are going back for some modifications. :) Also, because he is not getting any academic support at home, I will get a better deal this time. Just takes time.

Sounds like either over Statute of Limitation period (for your Country/State specific to your case) or just too long ago to gather sufficient/relevant info. Good luck anyway. At least you know now...but keep that in mind if any future problem occurs...valid complaints work towards maintaining lawyers' integrity!

I sympathise with persons dealing with family matters especially when children are involved, and in particular for those like Alec Baldwin where everything is up for public scrutiny.

It's a shame that more attention is not instead given towards those children who really suffer parental abuse (sexual/physical/mental/etc). imho, Those type of matters should be open to the public, because such children often have no voice.

    Cheers:wave
