acer aspire windows 95 help..

Hello all i have this computer for my son, and it did work ok, but i tried to put avr antivirus on it and callwave, it told me i need a winsock small download possibly , so i did that,
now it will connect to aol , but won,t pull up any webpages on aol or msn browser, it just says can,t find website, i have tried to use the recovery cd and it says i need cd rom device?
please help

this is a august 26th 1996 model, i can get more info on it if needed

 

thanks kaula, would it be easier to do the communications reinstall?
