I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to remove that little piece of whatever is making me unable to have the start page in Google Chrome come up instead of the search bar. (See Pic_1)

I have also taken a screen shot of my extensions that I have loaded in my browser.

Also I have a screen shot of my settings for Chrome.

I have run IObit Malware Fighter 2.3,
    Microsoft Security Essentials.
    Malwarebites' Anti Malware.

For me it just isn't going away unless I get some help from this forum.

    So.... thanks in advance....

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

OK, I am following along with the directions on removing Malware.

I have run MalwareBytes and the results can be viewed with the attached log it has generated.

I am sending attaching this log because there are soooo many items that came up and I am not sure which ones (or all of) them to delete.

So if anyone in the know can look at the log and advise I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.......

You need to rerun MBAM and have it fix everything it found. Then continue on with the instructions Kes gave you and attach the other requested logs.

I thought that I had it fixed. Here is what I did:

My first try was to create new shortcuts to Google Chrome and I.E. That worked for a day then the Truvaro search screen came back.

Next, I did a right click-->Properties and in the "Target" field, I deleted everything after the 2nd quote. Again, that worked for a day or so then it came back.

Still looking, still trying to rid my PC of this Malware, virus or shortcut hijack.

Anyone here on Major Geeks had this particular problem and have since fixed it for good?

    Thanks

Perhaps, but no doubt these people would have provided us with all of the requested logs. ;) Without those I'm about as much use to you as an ashtray on a motorbike.

I know. There are a lot of bad things that can happen to a Windows System.

I found and downloaded a program named: SpyHunter that claims to be able to rid my PC of the dreaded Tuvaro Start Page.

When I ran it the program found like 1800 items that were (suppose to be) bad. One of the items that it did find was the Tuvaro item I am looking to remove.

I had the program delete all that it found and so far it has not returned to haunt me.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

    Rich

PS: The only thing I hated about SpyHunter is that after it found ALL the problems, I had to buy the program to get rid of all that it found. AND get this... it will charge my credit card every 6 months. Talk about a racket.

Specifically, have you been able to run any of the programs in our procedures besides Malware Bytes? There's RogueKiller, Hitman Pro, TDSSKiller, MGTools.....

Had you followed Kestrel's instructions, you wouldn't have had to buy anything.

I do not trust this software. We do not recommend it.

I did follow the instruction. Maybe I missed a step but I thought I was doing good. SpyHunter is the only program out of all of them that specifically found the Tuvaro entries on my PC.

Anyway, it is fixed now and I'm doing the happy dance.

    Thanks to all....

You did NOT follow all of the instructions at all. You ran Malware Bytes, and we do not even know to this day whether you fixed all that it found or not because you didn't say. You did not run any of the other requested tools either.

You cannot say that Spyhunter was the only software that found the Tuvaro stuff because you never even bothereed to TRY anything else.

If you find this crap returns again, and I have my suspicions that you might just run into problems, then you will have to begin a fresh thread in this forum.
