Lexmark z52 printer problem

I didn't buy this before we start - it's a friends...

He said his printer wouldn't work. He brought the PC and printer round to my house.
Fault – printer not working
Test – reinstall printer
Result – fail
Test – reseat printer cartridges
Result – fail
Test – Install printer on another PC
Result – Install successful, failed to print

It doesn't work on his and it doesn't work on mine... I can safely tell him to buy a new one? Or does someone know something that might be causing this?

 

I tried download the drivers and sharing the printer.
I got a popup bubble telling me that the printer failed to print and went through the help wizard.
It's connect via USB on XP SP2. I tried the ICF fix too - no joy.

I'm sorry but my assumption (I know - the mother of all f[]ck ups) is that a 4 year old Lexmark isn't worth any further investigation....

You can probabaly buy a new printer for the price of 2 new ink cartridges for the old printer. If you don't solve your problem quickly, a new printer is a good solution. Bazza

If your are running XP you need to go to the lexmark website and get drivers for XP. I just installed that printer with the drivers from there site and it worked fine. That printer sells for $35.00 at Walmart but what the heck the drivers are free.
