I am wondering if annybody can tell me if data can be retreived from onboard RAM and motherboard chipsets or memory chips in other devices like PDA's, tablets, laptops, phones, HDD's, etc, by hackers?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

There is no way I'm aware of that RAM or motherboard chipsets can hold onto personal files once a PC s turned off completely.

In terms of storage memory (SD cards, USB flash drives, hard drives and on-board storage on a phone or PDA), it depends on how well you erase the data.

Simply deleting it or moving it to the recycle bin still allows hackers access. For hard drives and removable media, it's best to use a program like Simple File Shredder to make any data hard (if not impossible) to recover.

For built-in storage (such as a cell phone or tablet), you will need to follow the manufacturer's instructions on performing a full reset that includes wiping out the stored data.

    Hope this helps. :)
