Can't open Outlook e-mail/online e-mail attachments

Running Windows XP, Outlook Express, Comcast high-speed internet...

Can't open or save e-mail attachments using Outlook Express -or- online at the Comcast e-mail website...

Disabling all antivirus & spyware programs does not change anything.
No viruses or spyware on the computer.
All updates done.
Was previously able to open/save attcahments, but not anymore.

Any ideas? I think I have heard of this one before, but can't recall the fix for it...please HELP

Try:

Version 6 of Outlook Express adds an option to block attachments that may be unsafe and harm your system. To turn off this feature select "Options" from the Tools menu, click on the Security tab, and uncheck the box that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

The following extenstions are blocked by default:

* .asp, * .bas, * .bat, * .chm, * .cmd, * .com, * .exe, * .hlp, * .hta, * .inf, * .isp, * .js, * .jse, * .lnk, * .msi, * .mst, * .pcd, * .pif, * .reg, * .scr, * .url, * .vbe, * .vbs, * .ws, * .wsh

Ok...But would that setting also affect the viewing/saving of e-mail attachments when on the IP's e-mail website (comcast.net)? Outlook is not used for viewing "webmail" e-mail, is it

Forgive me, I skewed over the "online at the Comcast e-mail website..." portion.

Well, for instance, does opening attachments via OE work now? This setting ofcourse will only affect OE.

I'll have to checkout my comcast account online to see if there is also a setting.
