Computer shuts down

when i turn it on it works for like mayb 8 minutes then shuts down i have a
mobo-asus a8v delux
hdd-samsung 100 gig
proc-amd athlon 64 3500+
ram-pdp(patriot) 2x512 pc4000
vid card-6800gt but thats not in right now cus i gota wait for my new heat sink

Just stick to this thread, it has a little more info. Give us an idea of exactly what is happening, are you using any certain program when it happens, when it shuts down after it sits for awhile does it restart.

Make sure your fan is running, can you hear it?

i think i fixed it...i put new thermal paste and i formatted my hard drive using my dads comp...now im screwed it wont work like it wont boot it says NTLDR is missing press control alt delete to restart and it does it EVERYTIME

 

Double-check your IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable connections.

i went to www.bootdisk.com and clicked win 98 oem and save to disk then it saves then another thing comes up and says insert floppy and then i do and it says it cant or something ugh but on the first disk it says boot98
