Can't shut down

Hi all,

I just installed PClinuxOS. Everything works fine except when I tell the computer to shut down it reboots. I have installed the OS twice on different partition sizes use both lilo and grub I have discconected the reset lead from the mobo and general tinkering about but always the same result. I am using an old P3 system with an ms 6161 mobo.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

try as root in a console, shutdown 5

 

I gave up on this distro it just won't stop running!!!

Thats to bad this is a really great operating system I am actually running my web site from this OS and have had no problems since the day I set it up.

 

try ,<man shutdown> from console for the man page for shutdown command ---- see if there is an option that specifies "power off" or some such thing. In sabayan, it is <shutdown -h>
