Pictures infected by Virus.

I have an issue which I have never run into before. A friend had one of the FBI viruses on his computer. Computer would not function in normal mode so I booted to safe mode and ran CCleaner, Mbam, TDSS killer, and combofix just to make sure nothing was left behind. Rebooted into normal mode computer came up fine ran Mbam again and found nothing. Computer is running fine no FBI warning no redirects it just runs normally. Now the issue is every jpg image in the pictures folder has had its file type changed to .html and opens with IE in his case and redirects to http://mblblock.in/i.php?uid={910BC35A-7BCC-8827-A4F0-74E15EEAEA9B}. Which is a site similar to the FBI virus wanting to collect money and promising to unlock your computer once you pay the fine. The site can be closed and the computer seems to work normally additional scans so no infection. I thought file type has changed I will just set it back to a jpg and it will work not the case. When set back to jpg there is no preview available and the picture will not open. Tried to open with Photoshop, Paint, Windows Picture Viewer nothing will open the pictures. When I try to open a photo I get error messages about corruption or invalid jpg marker type is found.

 

Thanks for the link that is the virus that was on computer. Unfortunately I no longer have the computer in my possession. They needed computer back and everything with the exception of the pictures seemed to be working fine. I do however have a back up of the pictures if anyone cares to have a look at one them to see if it can be repaired.
