User complains computer acting up. sfc /scannow won't complete

Hi,

User is a bit vague on this one and I don't know the problem. As usual it's a friend of a friend's laptop that I've agreed to look at.

• I can't find any restore points to restore to.
• sfc /scannow won't complete. Says there were some problems, but it could not repair them all
• That usually points to a disk error but no, the hard drive is fine, and ran a chkdsk and re-ran but the same results
• I ran windows tweaking repair, but that's not done anything either

Other than suggest she reinstall windows, this is the lat thin I thought of doing, as it doesn't appear to actually be infected in terms of it's behaviour?
