I have a DVD that the PC DVD drive (3 different PCs with Win 7 installed) fails to recognise its presence in the drive. The player gives a low level thump, waits 2-3 seconds, repeats the cycle continuously. I ejected the medium to stop the thumps after 2-3 minutes. The DVD was created in 8/10, some files copied from the DVD a week later, different files copied a month later. Does anyone know if there is a method to access the DVD and recover the data files? The DVD does not look damaged and I cleaned in with a micro-fiber cloth.

    Thanks

    Bob

Are you trying to read the DVD with the same drive that wrote the files?

PC A was the machine that created the DVD
PC B hard read the DVD on 2 different dates (about 1 mnoth apart) and had no problem with the data copy.
