I am wondering how i can make my site appear when some one searches for "Lugnut".
The <meta name="keywords" content="KEYWORDS"> code, does not seem to work.
www.lugnut.vze.com Could the .vze be the problem?
I have seen sites that have been made on Lycos, and appear when the site name is searched.
    Thanks

In order for something to be searched it has to be submitted to the search engine. That is why some search engines search more sites than others. For instance, the reason that google is such a large search engine is because people submit there site to it. usually it costs a pretty large fee (Like $200) to submit a site to a large engine like google.

search engines get their sites catalog by at least two means: people submitting them to the engine (which actually should be free, unless its a business site), or through automated bot scripts (commonly called spiders) that follow hyperlinks on pages, cataloging every site they come across through this means.

in terms of paying for site submission, usually its service companies that will do the work for you, that you must pay. if you submit sites to the engines directly it should be free. at least they were when i did that a long while back.

I tried submitting my site to google and it turned out that it costs money. But this was a while ago and it was my first site.

i just checked and no it doesn't cost to submit your site to search engines, google included (if it cost at google, it'd be kind of counter to their philosophy). What you were probably looking at was their page for signing up to advertise on google. Advertising always costs money.

what you actually want is to submit your site, which can be done at this url:
    http://www.google.com/addurl.html
