I have a question. If someone sends you a .gif over AIM when you direct connect to them, is it possible for this .gif to have a virus of some sort embedded into it? Also, can someone send you a virus over aim without you knowing when you direct connect to them?

Images files can't contain viruses however some files will rename themselves to appear as one. I'm not really familiar with AIM, if you have a firewall and up-to-date antivirus you will be ok. If im not mistaked you have to accept anything sent by another user when you directly connect.
