Are you deliberately set up to use a proxy?

  4. MWJones101

    MWJones101 Private E-2

I did not realize a proxy was being used. No, there should be no proxy settings.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.
    Code:

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.

    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    • Re run Malware Bytes again, if it finds anything, let it remove it.
    • Re run RogueKiller (just a scan) and attach log.
    • Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
    • Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

How do i uninstall findingdiscount. I have tried through the uninstall a program in control panel, as well as its own uninstaller. neither have worked. Also, even when i disable all in msconfig: when you hit apply, it rechecks itself, that process wont turn off or uninstall. I will work on every thing else now.

OK So, Ran Hitman Pro and fixed one entry.

Ran RougeKiller and (Hopefully) fixed the 15 quoted entries in the registry.

Ran Analyse / HJT and fixed the 6 entires.

Downloaded and ran OTM with selected Text.

    Ran JRT.

    Ran MBAM.

    Reran OTM with new text.

    Rerunning MBAM now.

Things have been going fairly smooth, no issues running the programs. Speed has definately increased, and i have access to Internet Explorer back.

Okay let's collect information from a couple more scans so that we can fully see the current status. I will give instructions below. But first a a question, will you be able to uninstall McAfee and then reinstall later after we have completed cleanup? Sometimes antivirus programs can get in the way of cleanup.

Please run a new full scan with FRST like you did the very first time you used it and attach the new log.

    Please download OTL by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Double-click on the OTL icon on your desktopto run it. (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8 use right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    • Check the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
    • Check the "Standard Output".
    • Change the setting of "Drivers" and "Services" to "All"
    • Copy the text in the code box below and paste it into the [IMG] text-field.
      Code:
      activex
      netsvcs
      drives

    • Now click the [IMG] button.
    • One report will be created:
      • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Attach OTL.txt to your next message. (How to attach)
Now please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

All apologies for not responding until now, I was waiting on an email telling me someone had replied, and it never came. I decided just to check the status and noticed the reply. Thanks for helping. I will run the below and let you know. If i can find the McAffee activation codes then i can remove, but would prefer not to if i can't.

    Download this >>

Save fixlist.txt on your Desktop. Make sure you save it as a txt file.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your Desktop.
    • Now I want you to disconnect your PC connection to the internet by unplugging the cable ( if it is wireless then temporarily shutdown the wireless network ).
    • Run FRST64.exe by right clicking on it and selecting Run As Adminstrator
    • Click the Fix button just once and wait.
    • Your computer should reboot after the fix runs.
    • Reconnect your internet connection after reboot so you can come back here to continue.
    • The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) please attach this new log to your next reply (attach or paste)
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • Fixlog.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Please attach the above two log first before you continue with the below.

Also at this point, I want to double check the status of the fixes by having you run another scan with FRST like in my last message and attach the new FRST.txt log

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode. Any other mode is primarily used for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes. You should look into some third party software to control start up's.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Re run RogueKiller and attach log.

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let us know how things are running!

Ran Rouge Killer. completed the fix. Log Attached.

    Ran CCleaner temp files cleaned.

Everything seems to run much smoother, but has been for a while, the remaining concern was you mention of proxy being used.

That's excellent, Chaslang got rid of the proxy. I am no longer seeing signs of it.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
