Is there a program that lets you show two videos at once side by side in same frame?

    Hi Everybody!!

I'm trying to make a video of multiple videos I have and combine some of them into one frame side by side onto a single video.

    For example...

I have two perspectives filmed from this concert I went to. Me and my friend used separate cameras. Now I want to display both camera views onto one window and show them both playing at the same time but showing the different views.

    Know what I mean?

I am not familiar with video editing so I am can't figure out how to explain the desired result I am after. So I am not sure if I am making sense. LoL

I can't seem to find what I'm looking for cuz I don't think I'm using the right keywords. I'm also hoping to find a program that does this for free. :)

Does anybody know of any program like this or anything about the desired effect I'm trying to obtain?

    Thanks so much for listening!!

    Have a good one! :D

This is AWESOME!! It's what I want! BUT I need something FREE and that will do about and hour and half of video. If I can't find anything free.. I have no budget for over $30. Is this impossible?

I just want to put our two camera's perspectives together in one frame so you can see both perspectives for the whole show. Is there a cheap way to do that?

    Thanks!

Not really, video editing software is pricey, and the cheap free stuff wont offer you the features you need.

Enchanted Dreams...Lightworks has a split screen feature and is free. Before you get into using it check out this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdotGDttbRA&feature=share&list=PLD1165A595C6C48AA

Google Lightworks for the download if it's not here at MG. This is a serious video editing software that went into beta and was made free. It was used in the making of some famous movies in Hollywood.

I watched the first 11 parts of the video series that contains the above. It was a little more than an hour. I highly recommend watching the series in HD so you can see what he is doing. He only just mentions the split screen feature in the video from the link above, but it is there.

Sounds like this is every bit the equivalent of the Sony software. Check out the video on YouTube, then click on the uploader's name below the video and then, on his YouTube page, you will find the series of videos. Send him a YouTube message if you have a difficult time activating the split screen feature. He seems like a nice enough guy. If that doesn't work a Google search might get you going. I think there is a message board at the Lightworks download site too.

Looks like a pretty good bit of trial and error in learning to use the software, but most of it the video series will remove I think...

    Hope this works for you!

E.D....check out this page and make sure you have these codecs. Apparently they are important to the functionality of Lightworks:

    http://lightworks.wikidot.com/codec-installation

The LW codecs forum should help:

Just tell them you are a noob and ask for help getting the program set up. Quick Time is easy to get and free. I'm not sure about where to get Matrox...

Thanks for all your great suggestions! I really appreciate it! I didn't think it would cost so MUCH money to do something so simple ... I guess I was naive! LoL

I tried Lightworks but the free version doesn't support the frame rate of my video clips. And I have no idea what that means. I am totally CLUELESS when it comes to media editing and such. All I want to do is put two video clips in the same picture so you could see two different perspectives of the same thing at the same time. But I guess that's sophisticated editing that requires expensive software. I am SO DISAPPOINTED!! :( It was going to be a special gift I was making.

But I am going to keep trying to suggestions you guys post here. I haven't tried the last suggestion posted yet so I'm gonna do that now. :) THANK YOU for all your help! It really means alot to me! :)

E.D....I think this is the exact one you're looking for. I just downloaded it and used it to create exactly the same thing you'll be creating. It took me about 10 minutes. The name of the program is RaceRender 2. Not sure if MG has it, but I know it can be found on Google as a free download...

If you have any questions about it, I have it installed so I'll help you get going. I guess maybe I should thank you. This is a really good program and seriously set up for users...not too complicated...

Re: Is there a program that lets you show two videos at once side by side in same fra

Hope it works. AVI videos seem to work great, so if your videos aren't avi and if you know how to convert them that should work fine...

The only thing I noticed that could be something to deal with is that the video and the sound aren't separated on the timeline. Because of that there's no way to turn off the sound for one of the videos. If you have a video editor, you could just drop one of them in there and remove the sound from it. Then there would only be sound from the other one.

Pick the side by side template. The videos will be shaped funny, but you can fix that. To fix, add your videos and right click on them one by one in the lower area. Then just make the height 50 instead of 100 and move the video up 25 (Y?) for each. They will line up next to each other once you have done this for both like it sounds like you would like.

If you want to get rid of the sound for both and add your own music, that would work too...like music straight from an mp3...

Let me know if I can help. I had a problem with RealPlayer that I think had something to do with RenderRacer, so I had to remove it. RealPlayer wouldn't open, and I noticed some other problems that went away when I uninstalled RR. I may try to reinstall it later to make sure it wasn't something that would only happen once. I have installed alot of programs, and I don't think this is anything that would cause a problem...just confilcts. Good luck...

yw...glad to hear you got the effect you wanted...

I had to remove RaceRender. It worked, but it was causing problems with other programs. No troubles...they went away as soon as I removed it...

Hope I get a chance to try Lightworks someday myself. It looks grear...
