Malware Problems

    I'm having a lot of problems with my computer. It's running really slow among other things. The only pop-ups to mention occur when I start up. I get a message that says something in my registry key cannot be found...but it doesn't have real symbols they're like squares or something. I can post my HiJack This logfile, but I know you guys don't like that. I've tried other sites but I can't get help. I guess people don't like n00bs or something, who knows. Please help, you're my last resort...well, that is other than spending a couple hundred dollars for something I could do myself with just a LITTLE guidance. Thanks in advance.

    I guess you need a little bit more info than that. I'll do my best..I'm very computer illiterate though, if you can't tell. :eek: I've downloaded Spybot, AVG Anti-Virus, Hijack This, and a Comodo Firewall. Spybot has found around 700 entries but that's it. I'm stuck and don't know what to do from here.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.​
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
    NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Cannot follow steps in Read and Run me First!

    I tried right from the start. I cannot delete programs via Add/Remove programs. I'm still using SP1 and this computer is barely functioning. I can't seem to get anything to work. If you guys could please provide me with a good starting point it would be a HUGE help. I really need to salvage this PC. Please help! You guys know everything!!

    I'M SERIOUS!!! I can't run Spybot I get flooded with error messages. I also can't uninstall norton so installing AVG is out of the question. I'm trying desperately to fulfill these requests so someone will respond to me! Why won't you guys help me? I'm not arabic, banasrab is just a acronym of sorts. I've tried asking for help everywhere and I can't get it! I really need my PC! It's important!

    You also need to read this: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!

    And you also need to remain in ONE thread for your current problems. I'm merging you back to your other malware thread.

    In your previous messages you said Spybot found 700 problems and now you are saying Spybot cannot be run. This is quite contradictory so we have to ask what changed or what have you done since September 30th?


    Please try to follow the instructions in this link: Using MGtools

    After doing the above attach the MGlogs.zip file mentioned in the Using MGtools link.

    If you cannot do the above, then odds are that we cannot help you. With no info like these logs provide, we cannot help you since we don't know what your problems are.
