Ok. I had to reinstall Windows XP. I updated all to SP2, and installed AVG antivirus. The problem is, I can't receive emails in OE. I can get email directly from my isp, though when I try to send from my Yahoo account to Outlook I get nothing in my inbox. No mails from anyone except isp. I've uninstalled OE and reinstalled, disabled email scanner on avg, read Microsoft's help stuff, read here, everywhere. I can send emails out on OE though. It's OE 6, XP SP2.

Hi and welcome to MajorGeeks. Either I or someone else may be able to help.

I noticed you had Outlook typed out within your post. I'm assuming you are only using Outlook Express?

Are you running any anti-spam programs? Also, how long did you wait for that email from yahoo? Sometimes it can take awhile before you receive an email. Have you tried asking a friend to send an email from some other web-based email program?

When you state, no email from anyone else, are they using web based email?

Any errors? Or does it just go through the receive process and no mail comes in?

Do you get any messages returned to your yahoo account saying that the email could not be delivered?

What happens when you type in your email account and password into here: www.mail2web.com ?

(edited because I can't read and gave advice for a different problem, lol)

K, sorry for not being more specific. Just a bit confused about it..heh.

The emails I get to Yahoo are nearly instant. This has been going on since I reinstalled a few days ago. It seems the emails are going somewhere, but I don't know where. No error messages come up and the mails aren't returned. I have Thunderbird installed also, tried uninstalling and seeing if it works, but hasn't, even after uninstalling OE and reinstalling. I read that MSN Explorer could be getting in the way somehow. I took that off and still nothing. Even though it says "No new messages on the server" when I hit send and receive all, could they be invisible and OE can't see them, but there anyway? Read something about that also. I haven't tried anti-spam programs because it happened as soon as I reinstalled windows. After updating, that was the next thing I did. Not even spam gets through in email.

Edit: Though, I checked the mail2web and all emails are in there, just not getting to OE.

    Try the steps below.

In order to be able to use Yahoo with Outlook/Outlook Express you need to enable that option from the Yahoo website. Just logon to your Yahoo mail account on the web and then go to the Options menu. From the Options menu click on POP Access & Forwarding and from there you can enable the Pop access.

    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com

    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! Mail name (your address without the "@yahoo.com")

E-mail address: your Yahoo! Mail address (i.e., user@yahoo.com)

    Password: your Yahoo! Mail password

Just to make sure we are clear, is the email you are trying to get into outlook from you Yahoo address, or a different address? If it is a different address, who is you ISP, or what is you email after the "@" symbol? (such as @comcast.net, or whatever?) No full email address please, spam bots may pick it up off the forum and add to your problems. :)

Basically, it's any email that should be coming into Outlook Express from anywhere. @sccoast.net

Mail2web gets all the emails of mine that should be coming into my OE. Just, none of them come through to my computer, except from my isp. I can send anywhere from OE, but I can't get any emails into OE or Thunderbird.

Sounds like email address or account name is incorrect in the settings, maybe.

Is the accountname the same as the first part of your email address (or full email address, if required by the provider), or is it something different? I've seen this where the account name and password are valid on the server, but not correct for the email address it is paired with. A bit of a long shot, but worth doublechecking.

The email name is different than the account name. Though, if anything were wrong in that area, I imagine I wouldn't be able to send anything at all, or recieve emails from my isp provider. I've had it a long time though and know it backwards and forwards, not to mention the isp confirmed over the phone. Thanks for the help though to everyone that posted.

Haven't been following this very closely, but just to satisfy my stupidity, you do have both accounts in your IE6 .....your isp account as well as your yahoo account .....I know, stupid question, but it's late and I'm running on empty.:) :)

What do you mean "in your IE6"? I use Firefox, if that means anything. Not sure the question. Atm, I'm trying to figure out a sound issue also. Cutting out completely in a game..lol.

Sorry, thought the issue was being unable to get your mail.

Let me break it down. I'll try to make it easier. I'm getting confused myself with the way I put it..lol.

    1. I can send mail through Outlook Express to anyone.
    2. I can get emails to Outlook Express ONLY when my isp sends them to troubleshoot the problem.
    3. When I try to send emails from my Yahoo accout to my Outlook Express account, I get nothing. Though, sending from OE to Yahoo, they show up.
    4. When I go to mail2web.com, I can get all my emails that should be going into Outlook Express.
    5. I also have Thunderbird, though that doesn't work either.
    6. I have tried every possible combination, i.e. uninstalling OE and reinstalling, uninstalling T-Bird and trying OE, various other things with MSN Explorer.

Nothing is stuck in the outbox on OE.

Hope this clears it up a bit.

So, nothing comes into IE6 or thunderbird except when your isp "forces" it ...maybe they have a switch mssed up on their end ...what I would do would be to get on someone elses computer (who has a different isp) and set up your account on their IE6 and see if your mail comes through off their server.

It's worth a try, though I've had this same problem before, and I can't remember how I fixed it, other than installing T-Bird. I read that MSN Explorer might get in the way somehow, though it didn't work. I'll keep searching for a fix though.
