Got a sinlge long beep then a pause then another single long beep.
Pulled the hard drive out and still got the same thing.
Reseated the video card same reaction.
Reseated the ram and still the same.
    Is this a motherboard issue?
Of course nothing appeared on the monitor.

What would we ever do without U guys around?

The single beep and a 3-4 second delay is not list but anyways I got the beep to stop.
I have cleaned everything in the computer, disconnected and reseated one piece at a time including cables.
The computer starts, fans run, DVD runs (won't read), and I'll assume the HD is running as it is 1 or 2 degrees above body temperture.
I Plug the computer in and push the start button and the machine fires up but that is it.
To shut down I have to pull the cord on the back as the power button just won't shut it off.
The HD is Maxtor 6B250SO 250GIG SATA 150

Every kid should have to take at least one term on computer tecky.
    If only I was a kid :)

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Remove AC power and remove the coin-shaped battery for a minute. Then put back and see if any difference.
