I have just replaced the hard drive in an older Compaq Presario 5050. I cannot get into the bios so that I can SYS the system. I have tried everything. Everytime I turn on the computer it gets to the Compaq screen then if I push something on the keyboard to get into the bios I get keyboard error. And then I get 102-System Board Failure. I know if I can get into the bios I can fix this. But I can't. I have tried boot discs. But that dosen't work either. I can't get floppy or cd rom to boot up. Can anyone help. I would really appreciate it. Thank You.

if you use the orginal 8 GB HDD does it work? how big is the new HDD? Im thinking your PSU might not be enough for your new HDD

this is what hps site says to do about a 102:
    102 - System Board Failure

    cause:
    DMA, timers, etc.

    Recommended action:
    1. Clear CMOS.
    2. Remove expansion boards.
    3. Replace the System board.
