When i make 1 click on a file, 1 out of 3 times the file will open up.
When i try to make a selection of a file, 1 out of 3 times the selection won't work. The big surprise here is that after i've just uninstalled the mouse and then unplugged it and plugged back in, the first 30 seconds went great. I've made 30 selections perfectly, with no issues. Went as nothing's wrong. Then slowly, in the following 30 seconds, it started to get ugly again. I've posted virus logs and it seems that there's no malware. It still seems like a malware to me though ... but i'm no expert, so ... i would very much appreciate some help with this. Using Windows XP SP3 mouse is Fujitsu Siemens with spinning ball (old one, but gold one) I used to have this issue with the previous windows as well and after reinstall, the mouse worked well. Which suggests me it's not the mouse as the bug. Now that the bug has returned, and according to majorgeeks, there's no malware, i'm thinking that maybe there's a virus that might have been cleaned up, but left some damages behind that need fixing. I would prefer not to reinstall the windows. I've made a desktop video recording so you ca see this in action |

COMPUABLE, thank you for your feedback.
i disabled restoring points from the first day i started the windows clean install... oops ![]() i have used the steps you just mentioned, to see if there's some restore points from anti-malware programs (those usually do this: like avast), and my last restore point is today .. ![]() so, unfortunately, we need to skip this one ... which might have worked probably for the best. |

just changed the mouse to an old optic one. turns out it works well.
Just one more thing i need to ask/clarify. I'm afraid i'm either doing something wrong on my PC, or there's a virus that ruins mouses. So i need to make sure i can rule out the 1st one. 2 years ago i was having 3 mouses: the oldest mouse was non optic (same one as from 1st post), 2nd was optic with 800dpi, 3rd was optic 2k dpi I was using the 800dpi one, and decided to replace it with the 2k dpi. the 2k dpi started having same clicking problems as described in the 1st post, above. and replaced it with the non-optic. now the non-optic behaves as the 2k dpi, with same errors. Now, that you reminded me to switch mouses, turns out it was a good decision. so i'm back to using the 800dpi, which seems to be runing smooth. I'm afraid though that i'm seeing a pattern here. I'm afraid i'll have to throw this one to garbage as well in few months. Is there something i should avoid doing in particular to damaging mouses ? Is there a virus that breaks mouses ?
