I cannot seem to find where to set the default "reply" font in Outlook Express. Somehow the default has been set to this stupid red font. I want a normal font that is black!

    Thanks in advance.

    Cat -

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried you suggestion. However, I don't have a "Compose" tab under "Tools" - "Options."

The tabs that show are: Email, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, and Notes. I poked around some and I could not locate a "Compose" tab. My version is 9.0.0.2711. I am running Windows XP current.

Did I overlook something? Or do I have a different version than what this fix will work with?

    Thanks for the help.

    3. In the Color box, click the color you want.
    4. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Not meaning to sound disrespectful of your choice of E-Mail server, but Outlook Express is not most geeks prefer E-Mail Client as most others are way more secure. I chose Thunderbird, but there are others free here at Major Geeks, now might be a time to shop around, I think you will be pleased with the results. Oh and most offer to import your E-mail Addy's from Outlook.

Thanks for the info - but when the only way I can alter the font is if I uncheck the box stating "Use Microsoft Word to Edit Email Messages." So do I have to choose between spell check and default reply options?

That sounds like Outlook......not Outlook Express.

    Open Outlook/Outlook Express.

    Select the Help menu item.

    Select About Microsoft Outlook.

At the top of the window that appears, you should see the version name and the version number in parentheses.

It will look something like: Microsoft Outlook Express 6 6.00.2800.1106
    or
    Microsoft Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711)

I am an idiot. I confess. I apologize to everyone who tried to help me! It is Outlook!

So, now that everyone has set me straight, how can I fix it?!

I think some of the methods depend on which version of Word you have. This is for Word 2000. See the link after the steps if you have a different version.

    1. Start Word.

    2. Choose Tools | Options | General.

    3. Click E-mail Options.

    4. On the Personal Stationery tab, click the second Font button.
