Videos keep buffering every second or two

I thought this would be a common problem but can't find (search) the issue here.

Videos keep buffering every second or two on my work PC (Windows Vista / ISP:AOL). This is most apparent on YouTube. More time is spent buffering than actually playing, making it impossible to view. I have made sure my Flash is up to date (WIN 10,3,183,10), but it makes no difference.

Remarkably, the problem hardly happens at all on my PC at home (Windows XP Media Edition / ISP:Virgin).

So can any one please help me over the buffering issue with my work PC (Windows Vista / AOL)?

    Thanx, Jon

Go to speedtest.net and check the AOL connection speed, that's what the issue looks like.

    Hi Augie.

    Thanx4 coming back.

4.26 MB/sec. Compares pretty badly with about 16-17MB/sec at home with Virgin. Is that sufficient to play YouTube or Dailymo videos?

Looks like I will be moving us over to BT Connect soon. Will that be any better?

BTW, upload speed is 0.37 MB/sec. Not relevant to this problem, but I am not sure what it means to my PC performance and how it compares across the board generally.

    Cheers Jon

Hmmm, I get 8.4 Mbps(be careful if capitalizing the 'b' in Mbps as MBps is 8 times larger). People with 2Mbps DSL lines have no issues watching videos.:confused Oh, a 0.37Mbps upload speed(mine is 1.04 Mbps) though low is usually just fine as long as one isn't uploading something at the same time which in a business environment would be a normal occurrence.

I don't know if moving to BT(I assume you're in the UK?) will help, it all depends on traffic. If watching videos is part of your job then advise your boss, if personal then pause the video until it downloads completely. Oh, your speed also depends on the time of day.
