Sygate and NT Kernel

So, according to what I've gathered around here, NT Kernel is some sort of required operating app of Window XP. Or something like that.

Anyway, the problem is that Sygate constantly reminds me that "the application NT Kernel and System (some name.exe) has been blocked" or something like that. I clicked on the "Do not show me this message again" button, but the messages kept coming. (These are in intervals of about 15-30 minutes.)

So I took the next step of opening up Sygate and manually allowing NT Kernel to connect. But that didn't stop it, either. So I tried the other settings - Ask and Disable - but the notification kept popping up.

Anybody know what I could try to do? It gets frustrating, trying to play MOH online and have it interrupt my gameplay.

I've used Sygate for 2 years or so w/o any problems. Try to uninstall Sygate and re-install it, setting the NT Kernel to be allowed during install of Sygate if it gives you an option. If not, enter Sygate and manually enter the NT Kernel thing immediatley after the Sygate install completes. Maybe if you do this before Sygate notifies you of the NT Kernel activities, you'll stop the message from poppong up. You can always try Sygate's support. Sygate has been 'absorbed' (bought) by Symantec, the providers of the omni-present Norton line of crap ware, so any online support of Sygate Personal Firewall may be a bit tricky to locate... I wish I could be of more help here.... :(

Thanks, but I tried that, and it's still not doing anything. I realize now that the notification pops up every time I access the internet (Firefox, MOH Multiplayer, Spyware update, etc.), which doesn't surprise me, considering NT Kernel's association with the internet.

    Anyway, any other ideas?

I had the same problem when I upgraded to XP Pro, this link has quite abit of info about the problem http://forums.sygate.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=12989

I opened up Sygate and went to Tools > Options > General tab > Notifications - Hide Notification Messages (enable this box), it worked for me -

After reading thru the above link and other info found by Googling, I concluded that Symantec was not going to fix the problem - I really like Sygate and this was the only fix that worked - Sygate ver. I am using is 5.6 build 2808

    Hope this helps

Okay, I've tried that. Hopefully it'll solve the issue; thanks. But now I'm just worried about whatever the hell this NT Kernel is s'posed to do. Eh, I'll worry about that when it causes a problem. Thanks again.
