    Hi

Seems that my Windows Vista desktop got a "virus" that lock the computer and shows a screen with the local police logo saying that my computer was locked and that I need to send 100euros to unlock it.

I have tried to run Rogue to stop the virus process and then try to clean it (while my computer was started in secure mode without network) but when Rogue starts to scan and detects the process, the system give me an exception message and - after a couple of minutes - screen turns black...

I have tried by starting with Kaspersky rescued DVD but the same happens, after a short time, screen becomes dark and computer unresponsive....

    It is driving me crazy!!!

    Any clue/help will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    J

    Thanks for your answer.

I have followed your instructions by using the windows installations disk.

Everything was working fine untill farbar started to scan. After around 10 seconds, the screen turned black and unresponsive.... :)

However, I have waited for a while on the hope that farbar could finish in the background. Then, I have been forced to "kill" the system to turned off (by keep pressed power on button).

Seems that farbar was able to finish the scan...at least, I have found a file in the pen drive and I am attaching it to this post.

    Thanks in advance.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.
