In Sept. I bought two new PC that were loaded with Win 7 and Lotus Symphony.

Both were upgrades for me from XP and an older version Lotus.

When I tried to open my old Lotus files I discovered that the file format had been changed, so I installed (from my older PC) that version of Lotus that created those files.

Everything was fine, no problems with one exception. There was a small program that executed at Start Up asking me to register that old version of Lotus. Part of the install, I guess.

It would sit there and I couldn't do anything until I satisfied that stupid program. I couldn't register, the registration web page was long gone, so I finally had to get it off my screen by clicking on "Later"). :(

So, I assumed that I could got to the Start Menu and get rid of it there. It wasn't listed. In fact it was a very short list, much shorter than the list on Task Management of programs that were actually running.

I'm getting along in years (incidentally, thanks Major Geeks for the birthday card yesterday) and my memory isn't all that great, but I recall getting a program that was super in listing ALL the Start programs. Using it I found that stupid Lotus program way down on the list it produced. It listed way over 30 programs while the Start Menu list, at that time, was about 10 programs. :confused

A simple check off and it was removed from the Start Menu. Haven't seen it since. :)

I can't find that program on my system, don't know what it's called and I can't find the source. I can't even remember how I found out about it and used it. No, I'm not hallucinating, although at my age it's a possibility. I used it and it worked when Start Menu (msconfig) could not help at all.

Is there anyone at MajorGeeks who might know something about this. My questions are -

    1. Why doesn't Win 7 Start Menu list ALL the programs that start on boot up?

    2. Is there a program like the one I described available and if so, how can I get it?

Thanks for your help and forbearance.

Could this be what you are looking for?:

There is also a version of this that installs an icon in Control Panel, if you would prefer to have an installed version of the program:

This might not solve your problem, if the offending program is starting when you start Symphony. If this is the case, you will need something to block that one particular process from starting any time. I have/use Process Lasso, which has a feature for this...

Yes! 'Autoruns' I checked and it is installed on my system (no desk top icon shortcut) and since I didn't remember the name I couldn't "find" it.

    That's the program - super.

Once again, for a number times over the years, Major Geeks to the rescue!

AtlBo - thanks for your reply. My "problem" was I had lost that program. As I mentioned in my post it "solved" my Symphony problem last Sept.
