I added memory to my system, atrend ATC-6510 mother board.
The memory is not new it was in this system before I was just putting it back in. 256k sdram. Now the computer does nothing when turned on, only the fan turns on. No memory check don't here the beep. I had this same problem 6 month ago and never found the problem. It just started working. thanks for any help.

Do you have more than one memory stick in the computer? Was there another one in there before you put this one in?

If there was, try switching places for them.

If you only have one memory stick, and more than one memory slot, try another slot. If you have only 1 stick, you want the memory in the first slot, but if it's hard to see what the first slot is, try moving it around.

I had 1 stick in it. I added one more that was in it before and it worked fine.
tried changing slots no help. I even removed hard drive and all other cards to try to help it but no luck.
could it be a bios problem? should bios load before memory check? Thanks for the help.

    Memory check comes before bios.

Have you tried removing the memory that you had in before and try to boot on just the newer stick?

Also, have you booted on just the older stick, and that still works fine?

booted on both sticks.and just one of them, and tried both. no change with any of them.

You are not very clear in saying what is happening.

Are you saying now you can't boot on the old memory either, the one that used to work fine?

The system will only turn cpu fan on when you start it up on any of the memory I have, even the one that was in it at first. Just don't understand what is wrong.

Then I don't think the actual memory is damaged. But I don't have a clue what else could be the problem. Sorry!

    Anyone else?
