I came across this link today. Seems like it's OK to have backers, but not Oprah.

Your views would be interesting to me, from afar. Bazza

Personally, I'm not about to vote for someone because a well-known individual or entity endorses them. None of the current candidates has me feeling anything is going to get any better than it is now. Read the news stories about the debates, and how many candidates have been caught with "planted" individuals asking questions tailored for or against someone. Besides, Oprah has always annoyed the hell out of me. And keep in mind, a blog is nothing more than one person's opinion. It may or may not fit the thinking of the populus, but it's just one voice.

I agree with Solaris about blogs. They, for the most part, are not newsworthy or even factual. They are editorials that may include a few hard facts.

I also agree that celebrities carry absolutely no weight in my mind as far as real life goes. They are entertainers. I would never vote according to what they say. I do believe they have the right to back a candidate just like anyone else. It's a sad fact that people listen to them. I respect and like Oprah, but could care less what candidate she likes.

I normally don't get political in this forum, but after seeing this picture, I have formed an opinion of Obama.

    Yeah, that's bad.

What's it from and is it taken out of context?

    You are welcome :)

I work for Chris(star17) at the Cape and he's always had some scary accurate farsightedness; he says his "personal gazoo" tells him Obama is going to name Oprah as his running mate sometime down the road just to counter Hillary. He's got a point: it would be just the thing a candidate would do, perhaps not to gain votes inasmuich as to deprive someone else of them. And she can financially augment his campaign to match anyone elses. And all entertainer-types have egos, so the fuel is there.

Please don't ask me about his "personal gazoo"; it's a very long story ;)

That is like showing a red rag to a bull, now your going to have to spill Solaris ;)

Then again.. do I really want to delve into the depths of Stars gazoo!!

Photographs and how quickly they can be taken, can at times not tell the whole story, as mentioned in the Snopes article, they are clearly looking at something else going on, was the anthem about to start or had ended!? BUT sadly the politicl parties will use imagery like this to sway the vote... who says politics is a clean fight.

Not read too much about the candidates to form an opinion, but are the elections next Nov?

@Halo Yes, the elections are next November. We have a whole year of this crap.rolleyes

    Thanks for the snopes article.

I can't imagine Oprah would ever ever run for any political office. I'm not saying she doesn't have the ego. I just think she's too smart to do it.

Yes they are in November, Halo, and hopefully I will be a fully fledged citizen and get to vote in this one.

I agree with you about timing of the shot, and also about the fact it is just a "photo". My first reaction was "oh boy", but after consideration, yes, the body langauge says a lot, but what's inside the heart says a whole heap more. We can't see or judge that, of anyone! (and I'm not a supporter of this man, fwiw).

I would have to essentially agree with you there. It's somewhat of a multinational syndrome. Over here, we had a federal election on Nov. 24th, with a resulting new Govt. Basically, a different party name (Labour), and different personal names, but the same crud as before. True, they've only been in office a few weeks, but also true that, for example, gas prices have already been jacked up another 20c per litre (approx. 90c/gal.), and at an all-time high of nearly $1.50 per litre. Socialists preach taking from the rich and giving to the poor, but they are just as callous, greedy and inefficient as any other brand of government, i.m.o. rolleyes

As for Mr. Obama. Every time I hear that name, it reminds me of the exclamation - "Oh, Bummer!". LOL

I don't think an endorsement from Oprah will help squat. No matter what Obama (or any of the other dem wannabes) does this next year, Hillary will be the democratic nominee. This was determined a long time ago. I'll bet she is just pissed as all get out that he had the arrogance and the balls to jump in and give her a run. But she'd make some points with all the far lefties if she picks him for a running mate.

I obviously have no say in the proceedings but as you guys go, we get the whiplash! Rudy says there was no harm in the 9/11 dust, let me see, cancer causing benzene/asbestos etc.and the 'man' said no problem, why are the first responders getting sick? Why did the EPA wear masks when there? Nah, not for me.

Who the heck names their kid Mitt, catcher of all fists? Besides, I've seen enough of 'religious' people in office, war mongers all! You've sold your great, great, great grankids future down the road. Clinton #1 at least gave the 'publicans a balanced budget and what do they do with it? They go Reganize it. Oh, the mantra of 'We'll cut taxes' is getting real old fast!

I really hope that Americans finally wake up and smell the coffee!

    /end rant

right on there- i personally think they'll end up as runningmates (hillary and obama)

I don't think the Republicans have a very good chance in '08 because of all the flack from Iraq.

Ron Paul and Obama are my two favs.
