Help with ZoneAlarm

I intend putting ZoneAlarm Labs free firewall on my PC. I can't get Windows own firewall to work and no one seems to be able to find a solution. Therefore, I need a firewall and have chosen ZoneAlarm, partly because they offer a standalone firewall whereas many others nowadays seem to bundle their firewall with other things I don't want.

I seem to recall I once tried ZoneAlarm in the past and uninstalled it because I had some problems with it. So I'd like to ask the best way of configuring ZoneAlarm free firewall when using Windows 7 HP (x64) SP1.

Thanks plodr, I will not install it. I've only downloaded it and was waiting for advice. It's now going in the recycle bin.

Could you recommend a free firewall that is effective and functions on Win 7. It's only a firewall I want rather than an internet security suite.

 

Sorry, no. Windows built in firewall is working on our four Windows 7 computers so I haven't tested anything.
