I removed Microsoft Java. I was downloading Sun Jave, was prompted by
I guess Nortons firewall or Anti-virus that Sun Jave was attempting to
download. It recommended I configure, I clicked OK. Then I continued with
what I was doing. I think I began to install it and Norton prompted me that
something unknown was trying to install on my computer. It recommended
I block always, I clicked OK, because I was in the middle of installing
    Sun Java, I wasn't thinking.

Now I can't get Sun Java to install and I don't see even where it downloaded,
I think Norton removed that to.

How can I reverse what I did so I can install it?
With no IE I notice I'm getting popup even on your site.

Is it (Sun Java) listed in Add/Remove so you can uninstall it and start again?

Have you tried downloading a stand-alone installation rather than installing online?

No, I don't see it in add/remove. Where can I get Sun Java from?

You can get it from HERE.

The latest one is 1.4.2 . Just follow the prompts, accept the licence agreement, and select "offline" installation.

    Already removed JVM.
Which download of Sun Java 1.4.2 do I use on this site?
I really don't known what I'm looking at when I go to this site, to many choices, new to the internet and computers but learning fast.

    Sorry, that's my fault.

I always assume things and should have told you which one.

It's the one under the heading, "J2SE v 1.4.2_06 JRE" "includes the JVM technology"

*The J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications* ...

    Thank you,
    Successfully downloaded/installed J2SE v1.4.2_06 JRE.

Now to figure out what to do with it...hmm.

    You're welcome.

Just install it, the default settings work fine.

There should be minimal user input.

If you get stuck, just ask. There are heaps of knowledgeable people here.

Oh I've already installed it. I just don't know what it is for and what I can do with it.
I was following the directions on keeping my PC safe in the tutorial.

I'm very thankful for all your help. I do like the way this PC is working.

Motto: In all your getting get wisdom.

    That's what I'm doing.

"I just don't know what it is for and what I can do with it"

    Java is a programming language.

You don't really need to do anything with it, and you can get away without it for a while, but sooner or later you will try to access a site that uses it, and unless you have it installed the page will not work or load.

A few programs also require it available or they will not install.

Anyway, glad everything is working okay. Good luck.
