Default 64 bit IE yes, 32 bit no! ... but why???

Don't know if this problem belongs here or not, but let's give it a go:

lately, if I try to go on line using IE 32 bit I get the following message:

•Internet connectivity has been lost.
•The website is temporarily unavailable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
•There might be a typing error in the address.
•If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

this only occurs in 32 bit, 64 bit accesses the net with no difficulty; I have had a number of opinions expressed regarding how to fix this, but none of them have had any effect whatever. Trying to get a fresh perspective, I won't mention any of them.

Does anyone have any ideas, 64bit IE is like wading through fudge (or something).

Thanks in advance,

Mosander

Sorry I should have mentioned: windows 7 home premium

Try running the script on this page.

For 32bit IE on 64bit windows use ie8-rereg.32on64.zip

Usage: unzip the download and run the cmd file in it with a doubleclick. On Vista/Windows 7 you have to do this with administrator privileges (right-click on the cmd file and choose "run as administrator"). The command window will stay open after excecution, so you can check for errors. Do not run in "safe mode". If the problem doesn't go away you may need to reboot Windows for it to take effect. Also, it may be helpful to reset IE completely (as explained above).
