old computer and skype

    can anybody advise me...my computer is old, if i have spare cash sometime i will upgrade but for now i have a six year old laptop with windows m.e.

    i have been using skype to call a phone and the sound quality became terrible in the past two weeks suddenly. after trying various things skype support told me i have to update my drivers.

    windows doesnt support m.e anymore...the most popular driver in the downloads page (something 97..forget the name) says it is m.e compatible...could/should i download that or isnt it that simple? i actually tried downloading it and there was some sort of error...had no idea what i was doing so thought i would ask here first. is there a specific driver i could try downloading?

    Hi

    Do you have Laptops make and model number as that will give us a clue as to which Audio Driver you need? as not all AC97 drivers are the same or compatible with all soundcards.

    Is your ISP service stable, or have you been having disconnections and or slow speeds? only trying to see if its ISP line quality thats the issue over your PC, are you on ADSL, Cable etc?

    Trying to find any drivers for that model PC the Vaio PCG FX33G series, sadly they not sold in UK so not found drivers as yet, Sony Japan seems best but I dont speak Japanese so finding it trial and error searching the site, even with Googles beta translation gizmo.
